About Mexico Hospitality

Mexico Hospitality & Home Exchange was the brainstorm of Muriel Bevilacqua Logan and Betsy January, two American women living in San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato in central Mexico who love traveling around this wonderful country, but were finding some of the prices getting beyond our means for accommodations that aren't always delightful.

Muriel moved to San Miguel from Seattle in 2002 with her husband, Gordon, and fluffy dog, built a nice medium-sized house with lovely gardens and got involved with all kinds of things. Betsy and her husband, Bob, and dogs came from New York in 2004. Since Bob passed away last year, she's traveled even more, but also settled in with friends, work, and activities in San Miguel. Like most people here, we're SEMI-retired.

Having heard all the stories of friends exchanging homes in Mexico and the US for Italy, France and prized places in the US like New York and San Francisco, we thought, "How do we find people living in the places WE want to go in Mexico?" After Muriel spent three years trying to find a homeowner at her favorite beach place, Zihuatanejo, who would exchange for a little beach getaway, and finally succeeding, it was time to put thought into action.

We launched MexicoHospitality.com on January 15, 2008 sending out emails to everyone we knew in Mexico. Then we hit the road going south to Cuernavaca and all the way out to Campeche and the Caribbean coast to find new members in the places we didn't really have contacts. Thanks to friends---especially Aviva and Salvador, Elizabeth and Eduardo, who put us onto others in those areas- we found places to stay and people to talk to. Thanks to everyone there who helped us---Louise, Judy, Harriet, Wendy and John, Maria, Javier, and Doña Dinorah!

We hope you'll find your way to visit us in San Miguel and enjoy traveling to all the wonderful parts of Mexico where our hosts and exchangers await you.

Blessings,
Muriel and Betsy
